Can I seek legal assistance to recover my deceased father’s original passport, certificates etc in UK?

Question by amir3kh: Can I seek legal assistance to recover my deceased father’s original passport, certificates etc in UK?
My father was a British National and passed away in Jan 2005. I now in Pakistan, want to apply for a British Passport on the basis of descent. But my father’s original passport, documents, property etc are all in possession of my step mother in Bradford who is unwilling to cooperate with me. From where can I seek legal assistance to get my father’s documents without which I will not be able to apply for a British Passport.

You can get copies of birth certificates, death certificate etc.

~First link you can buy the cert.
~Second link tell you what you need to do to apply for citizenship and if you are allowed to as this right is not automatic.

Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful – http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.html
