Question by Xilea: How do I find out if my mom can get legal assistance to move from Wisconsin to Colorado?
She wants to move to be closer to me, but she can’t do it without legal assistance for housing and food. Just to help her get started and find a job. How do I research assistance programs in Colorado to see if I can find a way to help her. The only things I can think of that might help her so far is that she’s single and foreign.

Since this is a “want” instead of a “need” your chances are slim regarding finding financial assistance for moving, especially out of state. She needs to work like everyone else and save up the money. She could also try researching jobs that she can apply for before she moves.
BTW: If you and she want to be closer, why don’t you just have her move in with you until she finds a job and housing? Why should the public shoulder the burden of your mother’s choice?

Kathe has the right idea. Being single, foreign, and wanting to move to a frankly nicer state, is no reason the taxpayers or anyone else should help her. If she needs that much “legal” assistance, there are certainly programs where she lives that are already in place. If it were my mother, I’d go to Wisconsin with a U-Haul and move her myself – why are you not doing that?
